Smoothieboard GLCD Shield


Now shipping fully assembled.


This shield mates with Smoothieboard and makes it easy to connect a Graphic LCD screen.


It can either be powered by your Smoothieboard's 5V line or it can power itself with an on-board 5V 500mA Switching Regulator (not included) that can pull 5V from Smoothieboard's motor power. Be aware that USB 2.0 only supplies 500mA of power by spec. Some USB ports (noteably those found on a Raspberry Pi) provide as little as 150mA as was specified in the original USB 1.0 spec. This is enough for Smoothieboard or a GLCD screen but in many cases not both. In order to overcome this you will need to install the on-board regulator on the GLCD Shield and connect 12V - 24V to Smoothieboard's VBB line even if you are not using the built in stepper drivers.


Available as just the adapter pcb and connectors for those who already have their own GLCD screen or as a kit that includes a genuine Reprap Discount GLCD Screen and 8GB MicroSD Card (includes a MicroSD to Full SD adapter).
